The task

We were asked by the Owner to project manage the expansion of a highly successful and busy bakery. We were tasked with managing a team of subcontractors already proven in previous expansions, as well as coordinating foreign technology suppliers, including coordinating and managing the design process. The project was carried out without a general contractor, but it was a tailor-made role for us to fill. It's important to note that this bakery is far from a traditional one: production takes place on thousands of square metres with only a few employees and automated systems.

The construction

Details and pictures of this complex project cannot be shared due to the confidential nature of the technology, but the main work streams included: the construction of a new road link, which required significant external road and retaining wall works; the extension of the existing building to include a manufacturing plant and a freezing chamber (where the production workflow is fully automated with machines, equipment and robots); and continuous data reconciliation and planning for technology interfaces, while construction works progressed at a fast pace. During construction, the Owner's well-trained team provided daily support, involving multiple specialists to ensure the project progressed.

    Handover

For this type of project, the building and its surroundings are primarily designed to house complex technological equipment. This approach has guided the construction process. The fixed schedule for foreign supplies and the installation of the technological equipment required particularly precise timing and close communication with the technology installers. We coordinated a large part of the handover process, while a co-engineering company carried out the engineering design, technical supervision and helped to ensure the smooth commissioning of the technological systems.

    We are proud

This project required an extraordinary degree of coordination to be successfully completed on time and to the full satisfaction of the Client. We were able to take 99% of this type of burden off the shoulders of the Company Manager, who was managing the construction on a day-to-day basis at the beginning of the project. Working together, we proved to each other our dedication and professionalism.
